How time flies when you are with the one that you love...

It is hard to believe that four years ago today I married the love of my life.  Jake is the most loving, wonderful man I have ever met.  I can't imagine my life had I not met him.  There is a country song out now that talks about a man and his wife having a conversation about their relationship.  She asks what his life would be like without her.  He goes on to say he would probably do alot more fishing, watching football, etc. but he would always be looking for a woman like her.  Funny way of going about it but sweet nonetheless and so true.  It seemed like I would never meet the right guy until I met Jake.   How crazy is it that he was a guy that I went to high school with and never even knew.  All those years he was right under my nose and I didn't even know.  It wasn't until I stalked him at our school district's convocation that I realized he was the Jake I had heard of.  Afterall, we shared so many friends.  How did we not know one another??  So- with the help of our old friend Will and a few phone calls Jake and I were on our first date at Mamacita's.  That was a safe bet- we could have a margarita and chat it up.  If it was like all of our other dates we could call it a night after a drink.  Nope- not this date.  Jake and I shut down the place.  We talked and talked for hours on end.  From then on we were inseperable.  Gosh, I love that man!!! He is my soulmate and my best friend in the whole wide world.  Yep- I'm blessed, so very blessed.

Showered with Love..

With Landry set to arrive in just 6 short weeks we've been scrambling to get everything ready. Are we there yet? Not quite... BUT we are definitely getting alot closer thanks to our amazing friends and family.

We have literally been showered with love and the fun continues. Almost every weekend we've got one shower or another. Am I complaining? No way! We are most certainly blessed with an amazing group of family and friends who want to make sure that everything is just right when our little one gets here.

My Baker family hooked us up with our crib and all kinds of personalized goodies. They even had my students in on it with one baking the super cute pink cupcakes. The kids had been asking all kinds of questions about Landry's room, my cravings, etc. for weeks. I thought they were just nosy. I had no idea that 6th graders were so clued in. You should see all of the bibs, onesies etc. Of course, they are all in the right colors..

We then had a diaper shower at my friend Joni's house where we stocked up on Pampers and Huggies. Not sure our preference yet but from what I hear we'll have plenty of opportunities to test all of them out. That little girl's closet is full. Jake, get ready!!!

My old school besties hosted a shower at Madeline's Wine Bar in Kemah. It was great seeing all of my elementary pals and catching up. This was the shower where I became aware that I still had alot to learn about being a parent. I didn't know what a few gadgets were and apparently I had left crucial items off of my registry. I did learn, however, that their sangria looked and smelled killer. OK, who am I kidding. I had a sip. Dr's orders and it was delicous.. Yep, Madeline, I'll be back for a big ole' glass of that soon, very soon!

Last night was a couple's shower. This one was really fun because Jake got to be a part of it with all of his coworkers. This was hosted by our cajun friends Gretchen and Joe, who took us in as soon as Jake came to Brook. The Brook family is a blast. Dinner (homemade lasagna and fettuccini) was awesome and the conversations were great as always. You should have heard the childhood stories... I laughed so hard I cried when reading them, and needless to say Landry is going to be in lockdown until she is 18 so we can avoid all of that craziness. Ha!

The showers continue for the next three weeks. Can you believe? We are definitely loved and this little girl is going to be spoiled rotton!
